Why Bratislava?

Since I am living in Slovakia, this is probably the question that most people asked me:

– Why did you choose Bratislava / Slovakia?

Well. It was not a very meditated decision, but guess what: I discovered that Slovakia has a lot to offer when it comes to design.

First of all, the environment helps to develop creativity. Bratislava is a small and accessible city with a lot of cultural activities. And if you get bored, you always can go on a trip to Budapest, Prague, Vienna or even the south of Poland or Germany.

A lot of activities related to design that are organized here. The ones I enjoy more are the Bratislava Design Week, the Urban Market (with 3 editions every year) and Dobrý Trh (twice a year). It does not really matter if you are a designer or you are just passionate about it: there you can discover new talents, enjoy a good and relaxed atmosphere and get inspired.

The amount of designers is also important: there are enough that you can find lots of talent and people to learn from, and at the same time, they are not that many that you cannot have your own opportunity. The proof is in the pudding: I arrived to Bratislava without work experience in design, and working as a freelancer I had the opportunity to work for very interesting projects for well-known clients.

Of course, Bratislava is not perfect. But I love this city and all that it has to offer.

Coming back to the question: why did I choose Bratislava? Well, I did not, but I am glad I ended up here :)

See you around.
